    Following Ministerial Instructions issued by the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada on 09 April 2020, 29 April 2020 and 19 May 2020, applicants can no longer submit an application for temporary residence in paper at the VAC. New Ministerial Instructions issued on 09 June 2020 have extended this measure until 30 June 2020. All applications for temporary residence must continue to be submitted online via IRCC’s website: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html

    If you submitted an application for temporary residence in paper to the VAC on or after 10 April 2020, your application will be returned to you.

    Please note that the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada has also suspended the processing of temporary resident visa (visitor visa) applications that do not meet current travel restriction exemptions. For more details, visit the IRCC website.

    Please be informed that with immediate effect (Friday,20 March 2020) the VAC’s will NOT be accepting passports at the time of submission of paper applications (TRV/Student /Work) following the instructions from the High Commission of Canada until further notice.

    ‘Due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, all passports will only be returned using the courier services offered by the Visa Application Centre. The Visa Application Centre is offering courier services at a discount of 10% on the courier prices listed in the pricing table on this website. This discounted rate will only be available from 23 March 2020 until 31 August 2020’

    Appointment bookings via the contact center and website only:- Applicants may please note that with effect from 23 March 2020 appointments can only be booked either through the website or through call centre. In-person appointment scheduling services will be resumed as soon as the situation stabilizes

    Information services (enquiry) to be made available via the website and contact center only:- Applicants may please note that with effect from 23 March 2020 no walk-in information services will be available at the Visa Application Centres in India until the situation stabilizes.

    Entry into the Visa Application Center will be restricted to applicants only. Friends, family members, acquaintances etc. would not be permitted into the Visa Application Center. Exceptions would be made for elderly applicants and applicants with mobility challenges.

  • Important Update: Please note that the VACs will not be able to provide the Corporate Card facility for Visa fee and Bio fee payments as on 20 March 2020 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM due to an outage of the Global Payment System. Applicants may please pay the fee prior to visiting the visa application centre; alternatively, reschedule their appointment for another day.

  • Effective Saturday, 21 March, 2020 the Visa Application Centres in India will remain closed on Saturdays for enrolling biometrics for online lodged applications.
  • Important Update: New service charges come into effect on Saturday, 02 November 2019. You are advised to check for updated information on this website prior to submitting an application.
  • Applicants kindly note that effective Monday, 02 September 2019, VAC opening timings have been revised, kindly refer to “Contact us” page for the updated timings.
  • No Appointment Required for “ Only Passport Submission”: Applicants who have applied online as E-Application or are a Permanent Resident applicant and have received a request from the High Commission of Canada to submit their Passport at the VAC can walk-into the VAC at the appointed hours without an appointment. Kindly refer “Contact us” for Passport Submission hours at the Visa application Centres.
  • Important notice: Please be informed that the appointment scheduling service is necessary only for providing your biometric information. Please make your appointment when you consider you have all the necessary documents. Booking an appointment* with VFS Global to submit your Canada visa application and to enroll Biometrics is a free service. Beware of persons who may demand payment for it.The Premium Lounge service, which is available at an extra charge, is optional, and availing it is at your sole discretion. Opting for the Premium Lounge service does not guarantee faster processing or a positive decision on your application.In case you are unable to book an appointment visa the website, you should reach out to our Contact Centre and/or VAC directly.   • Notice regarding unclaimed/abandoned passports
    After three attempts to reach you, VFS will return your passport to the High Commission of Canada in New Delhi for onward transmission to the Ministry of External Affairs. You will not be able to collect your passport from the High Commission of Canada or any of the Canadian Consulates. To obtain more information about your unclaimed/abandoned passport please contact:

  • Effective 03 November 2018, prior appointment is mandatory for Biometric Enrolment at all the Canada Visa Application Centres (CVAC) in India. Depending on your nationality, you may already need to give biometrics.

    • Since July 31, 2018 – applicants from Europe, Middle East and Africa
    • Starting December 31, 2018 – applicants from Asia, Asia Pacific and the Americas

  • Please note that appointments are mandatory in order to enroll biometrics at the Visa Application Centre. A planned visit with a preferred time slot at the Visa Application Centre guarantees prompt service thus eliminating longer waiting time resulting in inconvenience.
  • Applicants requesting emergency appointments for the purpose of biometric collection may do so provided suitable proof of the emergency is presented at the time of the appointment. Suitable proof may include a note or other documentation from an official. Please note that this proof only needs to be presented and will not be collected by the VAC, and that this will provide an emergency biometric appointment but not affect IRCC’s processing time for the application.   • The Electronic Travel authorization (eTA) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is a new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals (apart from U.S. citizens and other spe www.Canada.ca/eTA cified exempt travelers) travelling to Canada by air.

    • The decision to issue or refuse a visa is made solely by immigration officers of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). All applications will be assessed in accordance with Canada’s immigration visa rules and guidelines. Canada Visa Application Centre has no role or influence over the outcome of an application and will not offer any evaluative advice.
