Re-opening for VAC in San Jose: 10th May 2021
Effective 9th August 2021, the Opening Hours of the VAC in San Jose will be as follows, until further notice:

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, the VAC may be implementing additional measures to ensure health and safety of applicants.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, all passports will only be returned using the courier services offered by the Visa Application Centers.
The Visa Application Center is offering courier services at a discount of 10% on the courier prices listed in the pricing table on this website. This discounted rate will only be available from 1 November 2020 until further notice during which time, the 10% discounted price for courier services will be CRC 5,150.00

Following Ministerial Instructions issued by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on April 9, April 29, May 19, June 9, July 1, September 29, 2020, and February 1, 2021, applicants can no longer submit an application for temporary residence in paper at the VAC. New Ministerial Instructions issued on September 1, 2021 have extended this measure until March 31, 2022 with some exemptions. Please check the IRCC website to find out more about these exemptions.
Most applications for temporary residence must continue to be submitted online via IRCC’s website: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html
If you submitted an application for temporary residence in paper to the VAC and are not eligible under one of these exemptions, your application will be returned to you.
As of Monday, 29 July 2019, clients who submit a paper application will be required to pay their immigration processing fees and biometrics fees online. The CVAC will no longer be able to accept payments for these fees as of this date.
