Introduction

Important Notice: The San Francisco and Seattle Canada Visa Application Centers are offering Biometrics Enrolment Services for customers who applied for a Canada Visa online and have received the Biometrics Instruction Letter.

The San Francisco and Seattle Centers do not offer Submission of Applications, Passport Transmission and Passport Collection Services.

If you need to submit a paper application or you need to submit your passport to complete your online process you would need to contact the New York and Los Angeles centers.

  • Prior appointment is mandatory for Biometric Enrolment at the Canada Visa Application Centres (CVAC) in United States. Depending on your nationality, you may need to give biometrics.
    • Since 31 July 2018 – applicants from Europe, Middle East and Africa
    • Starting 31 December 2018 – applicants from Asia, Asia Pacific and the Americas

  • Please note: appointments are mandatory in order to enroll biometrics at the Visa Application Centre.

Only applicants with same day travel in and out of San Francisco County will be permitted to book an appointment. VFS Global staff reserve the right to check travel documentation to verify San Francisco Travel Order requirements and deny any and all persons who do not meet this legal requirement.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO BEFORE SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT

In order to enroll your Biometrics at the San Francisco and Seattle Centers, you first need to apply for your Canada Visa Online as an E-Application.

E-Application

Step 1:

  1. Complete instructions on how to submit a visa application via E-Application can be found on the IRCC website “Apply Online”.
  2. Applicants who are REQUIRED to submit biometrics after successfully submitting an E-Application will receive a notification in a form of a Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL). Upon receipt of the BIL, you will be required to visit the Visa Application Centre to submit biometrics.

    Biometric appointments are mandatory

  3. If you are NOT REQUIRED to submit biometrics, wait for a decision of your application and check your MyCIC account for further instructions.

Step 2:

  1. On Receipt of a BIL, schedule an appointment. Use any of the following channels to schedule an appointment for the San Francisco or Seattle Centers

  2. Once an appointment is scheduled, an appointment letter will be generated along with a reference number. The appointment letter will provide details of the date, time and location of the appointment, along with other relevant information regarding security at the centre, additional services, etc.
  3. Download the mandatory consent form. You must fill out 2 original copies of the completed and signed consent form

Step 3:

  1. On the date of your appointment, arrive at the centre 15 minutes prior to your appointed time.
  2. Bring your original passport, appointment letter, Biometric Instruction Letter and TT Services Consent Form.
  3. Upon completion of biometric enrolment, you will be provided a receipt confirming the same.

Step 4:

  1. Once a decision has been taken on your visa application, you will be notified via email to submit your passport through a Passport Request Letter. If you are unsure of emails from IRCC getting delivered to you, please check your MyCIC account periodically for updates.
  2. Upon receipt of the Passport Request Letter, please submit your original passport, 02 duly signed consent forms along with the valid Passport Request Letter, at the Visa Application Centre.
    • PLEASE NOTE: The San Francisco and Seattle Centers DO NOT accept passport submissions.

Schedule An Appointment For Biometric Enrolment

Effective 03 November 2018, prior appointment is mandatory for Biometric Enrolment at all the Canada Visa Application Centres (CVAC) in United States. Depending on your nationality, you may already need to give biometrics.

Since July 31, 2018 – applicants from Europe, Middle East and Africa

Starting December 31, 2018 – applicants from Asia, Asia Pacific and the Americas

Please note that appointments are mandatory in order to enroll biometrics at the Visa

Application Centre. A planned visit with a preferred time slot at the Visa Application Centre guarantees prompt service thus eliminating longer waiting time resulting in inconvenience.

Please note, for the sole purpose of scheduling an appointment TT Services will collect Personal Information from the applicant. A consent form to this regard will be required.

  • The criteria for an emergency biometric appointment is as follows:
    • Death of an immediate family member residing in Canada
    • Critically ill immediate family member residing in Canada
  • An immediate family member is defined as a
    • Spouse or common-law partner
    • Dependent child
    • Dependent child of a dependent child
    • Parent or step-parent
    • Guardian or tutor
  • Applicants requesting emergency appointments for the purpose of biometric collection must provide proof of emergency (any one of the following) at the time of attending an appointment at the VAC
    • Death/Medical Certificate
    • Letter from Medical Officer/Unit
    • Letter from Funeral Home

Please note the VAC will report all applicants to IRCC who do not present the required proof of emergency at the time of attending an emergency appointment at the VAC. IRCC may take this into consideration when reviewing the application.

An emergency biometric appointment does not affect IRCC’s processing times for the application or the outcome.

Please note that emergency biometric appointments cannot be scheduled using the online appointment system. To schedule an emergency biometric appointment, please do so by calling the VAC Contact Centre or by visiting the VAC in person.

    Please note, TT Services will only collect your Personal Information for the sole purpose of scheduling an appointment. A consent form authorizing TT Services to collect the required personal information will be presented via IVR, and an electronic authorization will be obtained prior to the collection of personal information.

    • Once the appointment is scheduled, an appointment letter will be emailed to the registered email ID captured during the appointment scheduling process. If an email address is not provided, an SMS notification is sent confirming the date and time of the appointment on the registered mobile number.
    • A reminder notification will be sent via email or mobile, 24 hours before the appointment date.

    After the appointment is booked, a copy of the appointment letter containing the appointment reference number will be emailed to the registered email ID of the applicant, captured during the appointment scheduling process. An SMS notification with a confirmation of the appointment will also be sent to the registered mobile number has been provided.
