HOW TO APPLY

Submit Your Application In Person

Step 1

Read complete information on the visa/permit requirements on the IRCC website and download the appropriate application forms and checklist relevant to the purpose of your visit.

As of September 4, 2013, you may need to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) when applying for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit. Find out if you need to give your biometrics.

Step 2

Fill out the application form and other relevant documents.

If you are unable to provide all the supporting documents as mentioned in the official IRCC document checklist, you are required to fill out and sign the CVAC waiver form and attach it with your application form.

Failure to provide a completed and signed CVAC waiver form may result in additional delays or refusal of your application for a visa, permit or travel document.

Step 3

We strongly advise you to read the attached privacy policy and to complete and sign the CVAC Consent Form and attach it with your application form prior to submitting your application at the Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC).

Important: If a completed and signed CVAC Consent Form in not included with the application, we will not be able to assist you, and will be obligated to return the application to you.

Step 4

Visit a BANCO PICHINCHA branch to pay the application processing in the IOM checking (corriente) account number 3271407604 Please review the rate in the service and service charge schedule section of this webpage.

For the visa fee payment make a deposit as per instructions in the IRCC fee list.

Obtain payment receipt.

Step 5

Visit your local Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC), make sure you bring your passport, photographs, completed forms and all supporting documents as per checklist and IRCC fee instrument. Applicable service charges will be levied.

Important Note: If you need to give your biometrics, the CVAC will collect your biometrics at the same time you submit your application.

Step 6

When applying at the CVAC, pay the service charges, submit complete application and obtain a receipt. This receipt contains a unique tracking number which is important as it is required to track the progress of your application online.

Step 7

If you require your passport to be returned by mail to your home or office, please advise to CVAC of your delivery address. An additional service charge applies for this service, to be paid in a Banco Pichincha branch to IOM account #3271407604. Please submit your original payment receipt to the CVAC along with the other documents of your application.

Important Note: If you need to provide biometrics, your $85 CAD biometric fee covers the CVAC service charge for application handling.

All documentation is sent to Bogota for processing. The Embassy will return only your passport(s). If you require the return of any original document, please specify at the time of delivery at the Visa Application Centre (VAC) and attach a copy of the same.

Mail Your Application

As of 4 September 2013, Colombian citizens between the ages of 14 and 79 must give their biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) when applying for a visitor visa, study permit or work permit. This new requirement affects citizens of 29 countries and 1 territory. Find out if you need to give your biometrics.

Important Note: If you need to give your biometrics, DO NOT submit your application by mail to this CVAC. You must submit your application in person. The CVAC will collect your biometrics at the same time you submit your application.

Step 1

Read the complete information on the visa/permit requirements on the IRCC website and download appropriate application forms and checklists based on the purpose of your visit.

Step 2

Fill out the application form and other relevant documents electronically and print. Forms (including the barcoded sheets) are to be printed on a white, bond quality, non-glossy paper, using a laser printer.

If you are unable to provide all the supporting documents as mentioned in the official IRCC document checklist, you are required to fill out and sign the CVAC waiver form and attach it with your application form.

Failure to provide a completed and signed CVAC waiver form may result in additional delays or refusal of your application for a visa, permit or travel document.

Step 3

We strongly advise you to read the attached privacy policy and to complete and sign the CVAC consent form and attach it with your application form prior to sending the application to us by post/courier.

Important: If a completed and signed CVAC consent form is not included with the application, we will not be able to assist you, and will be obligated to return the application to you.

Step 4

Step 5

Mail or courier in your completed and signed application forms and checklists, consent form, along with your passport, photographs, Bank payment receipts (PICHINCHA and PRODUBANCO) in a sealed envelope to Canada Visa Application Centre. Mail your application package through a local courier agency to the CVAC.

Step 6

Track your delivery with the postal or courier company used to submit your application(s) to the CVAC.

Step 7

The unique tracking number to track the progress of your application will be emailed to you once your application has been reviewed for completeness by the CVAC staff.

If your application is found to be incomplete, the CVAC will send you an email informing you of deficiency (ies) in your application. You will receive the notification email within 2 working days from the reception date of your documents to de CVAC.

Step 8

If you don’t receive any tracking email ID or information of your application within 2 working days from the receipt of your application at the CVAC, please send an email along with the following information:

  • Your full name
  • Your full address
  • Your telephone number with area code
  • Airway bill number/consignment number and date on which the application was couriered

Step 9

If you require your passport to be returned by mail to your home or office, please advise to CVAC of your delivery address. An additional service charge applies for this service, to be paid in a Banco Pichincha branch to IOM account #3271407604. Please delivery your original payment receipt along with the other documents of your application.

Note: If your application is found to be incomplete the CVAC will send you an email informing you of deficiency (ies) in your application. You will receive the notification email within 2 working days from the reception date of your documents to the CVAC. You must provide all necessary documents to the CVAC within the 3 working days from the date of receipt of the email.

Submit Your Passport

If you have received notification from the Government of Canada requesting your passport, your passport(s) along with the copy of passport request letter may be submitted through Visa Application Centre of your choice.

How to submit your passport:

Once you receive notification from the Government of Canada requesting your passport, you can submit the passport (s) and your passport request letter:

  1. In person / through an authorized representative at the CVAC

    Or,

  2. By courier/mail to the VAC address mentioned on the ”Contact Us” page.
  3. With your passport(s), make sure you include:

    • The passport request letter you received from IRCC
    • Any applicable visa application centre (VAC) fees, such as passport transmission fees, courier fees etc. The details can be obtained here.
    • Your contact information, including your email, phone number and return address
    • The VAC consent forms
    Important: If a completed and signed CVAC consent form is not included with your application, we will not be able to assist you, and will be obligated to return your application.

For Return of your Passport (s), you have the choice of;

  1. Picking up the passport from the VAC; or

  2. Through and authorized representative; and
  3. If you require your passport to be returned by mail to your home or office, please advice to CVAC of your delivery address. An additional service charge applies for this service, to be paid in a Banco Pichincha branch to IOM account #3271407604. Please submit your original payment receipt to the CVAC along with the other documents of your application.

The Passport Transmission Services offered by the VACs will enable you to;

  1. Get your passport delivered to the CVO in a timely and safe manner.
  2. You will be able to track the status of your passport by using the Tracking tool on the CVAC website
